The first trailer has arrived for M. Night Shyamalan’s sci-fi drama After Earth, in which Will and Jaden Smith crash-land on a hostile planet full of dangerous predators.
As the older Smith comments ominously, “Everything on this planet has evolved to kill humans”, before sending his boy off into the wild to return with sustenance. He’s banged his leg up you see, otherwise he’d go himself…
However, this being a Shyamalan joint, there’s even a twist in the tail of the trailer, as evidenced when the father asks of his son, “Do you know where we are?” If you haven’t already guessed, we won’t spoil it for you.
Take a look, below:
Shyamalan’s recent track record has been dodgy to say the least, but from the lush visuals we’ve seen here, we’re hopeful this could be the film to arrest the slump. And the chemistry between the two leads should be decent at the very least.
Co-starring Zoë Kravitz, Sophie Okonedo and Isabelle Fuhrman, After Earth will open in the UK on 7 June 2013.

There looks to be some half-decent ideas wrapped up in this film. I hope it turns out to be one of his hits, rather than one of his horrific, brain-melting misses.

It looks good. Smart marketing to leave Shymalalaldingdong's name out of the titles.

@SlundNZ Yes i do remember The Last Airbender but i also remember The Sixth Sense, Unbreakable and Signs. So hes proven he can make fantastic movies. The thing about Shyamalan hes prejudged on everything. Give this a chance.

Twist at the end - this turns out to be Earth's past (like Battlestar Galactica), not our future. I reckon.

The twist will be that Jaden is actually the father of Will.

we all know its going to be s**t , he hasn't made a decent film in what seems like forever and tbh I don't care anymore ....the fact that Will Smiths son is in this tho defiantly means I won't see it he is so obnoxious and irritating I couldn't bare to sit through anything with him in

Looks good but Mr Shyamalan has used up all his goodwill credit in my book, nothing short of four/five stars across the board will even tempt me.
