First trailer for the Ferrell and Galifianakis political comedy The Campaign

Vote for laughs!

With politics firmly on the minds of US citizens this year, The Campaign is presumably aiming for some box office heat in light of the national debate on just about everything.

But don’t expect an incisive highbrow satire – if the trailer’s anything to go by, it looks like a more violent Step Brothers than In The Loop 2.

Watch the trailer for The Campaign now:

With Ferrell doing his patented smarm-and-charm offensive, and Galifianakis wheeling out a mildly camp oddball, they’re not a million miles away from some off-screen politicos, although we're betting none of them ever punched a baby...

The Campaign is directed by Jay Roach, and opens on 28 September 2012.

That character looks familiar to the dude who interviewed Sean Penn in Between Two Ferns.

"Hey everyone, lets get a guy who was funny in a movie in 2004 and has pretty much played the same character(although with different accents) ever since, and then get a who was funny in a movie in 2009, and has played pretty much the same character ever since, and put them in a movie together!" f**k off.
