The Last Stand has released a first official trailer online, in which Arnold Schwarzenegger makes his return to leading man status as the sheriff of a small town in the path of a cartel of violent criminals.
Ray Owens (another all-American role for Arnie) is the ageing lawman in a sleepy border town, who finds himself forced to tool up one last time in order to stop a wanted drug lord and his posse of mercenaries from escaping the FBI and crossing over into Mexico.
Cue plenty of “I’m too old for this shit” quip-making, granite-jawed posturing and a whole heap of gunfire, as Arnie positions himself as the last line of defence in the way of some of America’s most wanted.

Despite the hoary premise and Arnie’s creaking limbs, this looks like a slice of good old-fashioned action fun. We never thought we’d see a cackling Johnny Knoxville keeping a machinegun-toting Schwarzenegger in ammunition, but you live and learn…
Directed by Kim Jee-woon and co-starring Forest Whitaker, Peter Stormare and Eduardo Noriega, The Last Stand opens in the UK on 25 January 2013. The big man is back!

Oh yes. I am excited. I literally squealed with joy when i saw Arnie with the belt fed machine gun. So glad he's back.
