If you thought that Forrest Gump tied up all of its loose ends quite conclusively, we’re afraid you’re sorely mistaken. Well, according to Steve Tisch and Wendy Finerman, anyway.
The Gump producers have reportedly returned from a trip to development Hell, with a slightly charred copy of Eric Roth’s 2001 sequel screenplay clutched in their eager mitts.
It’s called Gump & Co, it’s based on Winston’s Groom’s Gump follow-up novel of the same name, and it features a cameo-role by Tom Hanks (as himself).
And no, we didn’t make that last bit up. Following Forrest’s adventures through the ‘80s and ‘90s, there will be plenty of historical events to our hero to pop up in – the only question is, does anyone really care?
