Found-footage horror Apollo 18 gets a trailer

Houston, we have a problem…

Apollo 18 has had an incredibly fast turnaround time.

The Timur Bekmambetov-produced thriller crept into production last November, and is set to be released this spring.

Pouncing on the current trend that is found-footage horror, Apollo 18 has a neat twist in that it happens in space.

Adding to the purported stylistic realism, the film is based on a cancelled shuttle mission.

While the trailer generates a reasonable amount of tension, several elements do look very familiar, from the insectoid alien parasite, to the infected zombie-like victims.

Hopefully the finished product will have a few tricks up its sleeve...

Check out the trailer for yourself below:

Apollo 18 is set for release on 22 April 2011.

Intrigued by the trailer? Or feel like you've seen this too many times before? Your thoughts please!

Looks good. i love these found footage type movies, they always give me a good chill. Blair Witch, PA 1 & 2, and yes even 'The Asylum' versions got me well tensed up. Can't wait :)

Ugghh.... They took what could have been a unique and original take on the found-footage phenom and managed to create something that has the appearance of a film-school dropout project in all aspects. As derivative as f-f films have now become, there still exist a few scenarios where the subject matter might have a perfect fit if done intelligently, and with at least a little effort put into the story. It's truly sad to see one of those scenarios squandered in this way.

"Hopefully the the finished product will have a few tricks up its sleeve..." I agree, especially as they've done the usual and shown what looks like the entire film in the trailer...

should be awesome. 1 way it could be alrite- They should discover a parasite like creature that latches onto people's faces and plants their eggs inside them ready to burst out and become big black xenomorphs capable of killing the entire crew..... or is that idea already taken
