Four Christmases atop the US box office again

While the Punisher shoots blanks

It continued to feel a lot like Christmas for the US box office this weekend – despite a slow couple of days at the movies, Four Christmases emerged as the chart champ again, with $18.2 million earned.

Twilight, meanwhile, surged back into second place, adding $13.2 million to its current $138.5 million total. That put it ahead of Bolt, which took in $9.6 million for the weekend.

Australia continued to show itself as underpowered, earning $7 million, and Quantum Of Solace rounded out the top five with $6.6 million, which brings its US total to $151.4 million.

Punisher falters

Finally, Punisher: War Zone spluttered into eighth place, bringing home a disappointing $4 million. Perhaps now it’s time to put a bullet in that particular attempt at launching a franchise.

  1.  Four Christmases ($18.2 million)
  2. Twilight ($13.2 million)
  3. Bolt ($9.6 million)
  4. Australia ($7 million)
  5. Quantum Of Solace ($6.6 million)
  6. Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa ($5.1 million)
  7. Transporter 3 ($4.5 million)
  8. Punisher: War Zone ($4 million)
  9. Cadillac Records ($3.5 million)
  10. Role Models ($2.6 million)
