Frankenweenie has released a new trailer that takes its cues from the B-movies of the 1950s, promising that "millions will be thrilled by the greatest story the screen will ever know".
Boasting a kitsch voiceover and a suitably brassy score, the new trailer is a wonderful homage to the classic monster movies of days gone by, right down to the description of the film's 3D as "the spectacular, spellbinding third dimension"!
The film sees a young boy named Victor, who attempts to channel his science-class proficiency into a way of bringing his beloved dog back to life. Remarkably, his experiment proves successful, but when the other kids in the neighbourhood get wind of what's happened, it isn't long before things begin to spiral out of control.

After the intriguing but muddled Dark Shadows, it's good to see Tim Burton back on form with what looks to be a lovingly crafted tribute to a genre that's always been close to the director's heart. We particularly like the Igor substitute who's responsible for spreading word of Victor's achievements…
Featuring the vocal talents of Winona Ryder, Catherine O'Hara and Martin Short, Frankenweenie will open in the UK on 17 October 2012. Jot it down. After all, you don't want to miss the greatest story the screen will ever know, do you?
