Freddie Highmore is Astro Boy

Charlie & The Chocolate Factory  co-star is voicing the ‘toon…

Young actor Freddie Highmore has slowly been building himself one of the more impressive kid actor careers around.

He’s about to be seen playing twins (thanks to some CG tinkering from ILM) in The Spiderwick Chronicles, and now he’s signed on to voice the lead character in Warner Bros’ new Astro Boy 3D cartoon.

Adapted from Osamu Tezuka’s tale of a lonely robot who dreams of humanity, it’s being brought to us in 2009 by the same animation company that relaunched those Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Rocket over to Variety for all the details.
