Individual tickets for the 37 films showing at Film4 FrightFest, the UK’s premiere horror festival, have today gone on sale.
Hosted by the Empire Cinema in Leicester Square, Film4 FrightFest takes place Thursday 25 August to Monday 29 August and boasts seven world premieres and 20 UK or European premieres.
UK titles and American fare make up the bulk of the powerhouse line-up but there are films from around the world, including Australia, Holland, Switzerland and Israel.
Among the many gems on display is Total Film’s sponsored film, Kill List. Ben Wheatley’s follow-up to award-winning debut Down Terrace, it is the most brutal, innovative British horror movie to emerge since the mid-‘70s.
Tickets are also available for Total Film’s double-whammy on-stage event: Larry Fessenden In Conversation With Jamie Graham, followed by American Horror: A Panel Discussion.
New York filmmaker Larry Fessenden is the most underrated horror director working in horror today. As well as directing four excellent features (No Telling, Habit, Wendigo, The Last Winter), he has produced 50-odd titles and acted in 40 more.
Larry and Total Film’s Deputy Editor Jamie Graham will then by joined on stage by genre directors Lucky McKee, Ti West, Adam Green, Joe Lynch and producer Andrew Van Den Houten to discuss the US scare scene.
Can the new breed contend with the Romeros, Carpenters and Cravens? Are there still taboos to be broken? And why did the Prom Night remake make so much cash when gems like The House Of The Devil and Trick ‘R Treat barely get a look in? This discussion will provide the inside track.
