Gal Gadot cast as Wonder Woman in Batman vs Superman

Fast & Furious star joins Man of Steel 2

After much speculation, Zack Snyder has made it official.

Not only will Wonder Woman appear in Man of Steel 2 / Batman vs Superman, but she'll be played by Gal Gadot.

Gadot's most famous for her role in Fast Five and Fast & Furious 6, and before that previously held the title of Miss Israel.

Snyder's optimistic that she's the perfect casting and will be able to hold her own against Henry Cavill's Superman and Ben Affleck's Batman.

“Wonder Woman is arguably one of the most powerful female characters of all time and a fan favorite in the DC Universe. Not only is Gal an amazing actress, but she also has that magical quality that makes her perfect for the role. We look forward to audiences discovering Gal in the first feature film incarnation of this beloved character,” Snyder told Variety.

It's still unclear as to whether Gadot will appear as the superheroic Amazon princess or her downtime alter-ego Diana Prince.

Man of Steel 2 / Batman vs Superman 2 is scheduled to arrive in cinemas July 17 2015.

Personally I am fine with Gadot playing Wonder Woman. My problem is the fact they continue to call this a Man of Steel sequel.

I really wanted Jamie Alexander but I can't complain about Gadot, she's tall (well at least to my short a**e) and exotically attractive. Acting wise she seems ok nothing special but, were we ever expecting an actress who'd go own to win Oscars? Physique wise she's a tad bit skinny however that's not going to be a problem because Snyder will hook her up with the guy who trained the 300 and MOS cast, and he did a tremendous job with Cavill, Butler and Antje Traue. I am going to remain cautiously optimistic, for all we knew this could just be a brief Diana appearence to set up JLA or a solo outing. The good news is at least Warner Bros is trying to flesh out their DC universe, even if it does feel like they're rushing it a little. Now that this is out of the way can we please get a Lex Luther announcement!

So I wonder who's gonna play the flash? on a more serious note though, If DC play their cards right with this they could take over marvels lead as the studio is yet to make a film helmed by a female protagonist (Superheroine?) so they could set the tone here. However, I fear they're not gonna get this right as although MOS did have it's good parts, I feel it was let down by the Direction and script, and seeing as Goyer and Snyder are the main facets of the crew behind the first one staying on for this (Nolan seems to be drifting away) I'm not confident of that. While Goyer has good pedigree in script writing I felt the man of steel script was weak in places(particularly the 3rd act) and could've done with better editing in the final draft (maybe JJ abrams could do it on this one seeing as he wrote the failed Batman vs superman script that went around a few years, and he could possibly rope lawrence kasdan in to help- although I'm really dreaming here they're probably way to busy on star wars) I think they should bring in Jonathan Nolan to round out the scriptwriting team on this one for that, and as far as I'm concerned they need to dump zack Snyder immediately and replace him with someone who isn't obsessed with visual style and destruction porn-If joe Cornish isn't booked in for star trek 3 I'd love to see his take on this. My final wish is that they don't make this movie 'Batman vs superman' and instead make it Man of steel 2 featuring batman and wonderwoman in supporting roles like nick fury and don Cheadle in Iron man 2 , I don't just wanna watch batman and superman duke it out for a couple of hours to lead into JLA

Seems like they've completely abandoned the idea of solo outings at this point. I guess it could still work, if done right, but given the writing in Man of Steel, I don't find myself brimming with optimism.

i will be happy if this means they will simply run with the pre-established, fully formed DC world and not bother with a dozen character origin films

It doesn't have to be an *origin* film, but the thing is, if they don't introduce them properly one way or another, only existing fans will care about them. I for one have never touched a comic book with Wonder Woman in it, so if this is to be her first appearence, they're gonna have to do a real good job establishing her.

Haha, at least they're doing their best to make a contrived and cynical sequel...I'll give them that.

Ex-Miss Israel has the potential to fit in the role of Batman. I loved her performance in Fast & Furious. People have different sentiment on this news. Here is how how the internet reacted to Gal Gadot’s casting of Wonder Woman. bit.ly/1bk9iZt
