Gary Ross is a speed demon

The Seabiscuit director drives a NASCAR drama

He travelled at the speed of a racehorse with Seabiscuit, but now director Gary Ross is planning to go just that little bit faster.

His next movie will base itself firmly in one of America’s national pastimes – NASCAR racing. But it won’t be a Talladega Nights-style comedy – he’s nabbed Sopranos veteran Terence Winter to pen a drama about a young driver who lives his dream of racing for one of his idols – while competing with the man’s own son.

Ross has also grabbed full NASCAR support, which should mean plenty of high-speed action in between the arguments. Variety is on the starting grid.
