George Clooney arrested at the Sudanese Embassy in Washington

The Ocean's actor arrested in planned protest

Hollywood heavyweight George Clooney has been arrested following a planned protest outside the Sudanese Embassy.

The Ides Of March director was protesting against human rights abuses by the Sudanese government.

According to The Guardian, he announced his protest in advance and had every intention of being arrested. Protesting with his father, journalist Nick Clooney, the actor blocked the entrance to the Sudanese embassy.

Following a recent tour to Sudan, Clooney's political stance as as avid activist is no secret, although it's always surprising to hear about a megastar being arrested, even under pre-planned circumstances.

It got him what he wanted, to highlight the plight of the Sudanese people. Fair play to him, how many people feel strongly enough to protest in public, rather than press 'like' on Facebook? At least he wasn't pepper-sprayed, (he's a Dapper Dan man).
