Gilliam goes West

After the mauling of Brothers Grimm, Terry Gilliam is hoping a little Western action will help his fortunes…

Terry Gilliam must feel like he’s broken a mirror or two in his past. This last year has seen his return to studio filmmaking, The Brothers Grimm shot down by the critics and rejected by film lovers. And as for his low-budget escape to Indie world, Tideland? It failed to set the festival crowd alight and hasn’t found a distributor yet.

So how is he licking his wounds? He’s turning to Billy the Kid. Anything For Billy is a novel by Brokeback Mountain screenwriter Larry McMurtry and traces the exploits of Ben Sippy, a writer who strikes out for the west in hopes of adventure and meets the famous outlaw.
