Godzilla debuts awesome new poster

There goes the neighbourhood...

Gareth Edwards’ Godzilla remake has released an excellent new poster online, featuring the titular beastie’s arrival in a major US city...

Bathed in the smoky orange glow of mass destruction, the new poster shows Godzilla marauding through an unspecified cityscape, creating havoc as he goes.

Gorgeous and terrifying in equal measure, it’s a brilliantly atmospheric teaser, and still manages to preserve a bit of mystique around the big bad himself...

Edwards’ remake will tell the tale of a soldier and his sweetheart separated amid the mayhem of the Godzilla event, as a panicked military tries to work out how to stop the giant lizard in his tracks.

Co-starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen and Bryan Cranston, Godzilla will open in the UK on 16 May 2014.

and that's definitely Godzilla, really looking forward to this, the 1998 version was a bit of a mis-step (although I admit I liked it back then when I first saw it but watched it again a couple of years ago and wasn't too keen), this new version however is looking really good in my book, love the poster, it shows us the big fella, yet at the same time it doesn't ... nice :)

Awesome? Really? It's just yet another back-to-camera shot of the main character that Hollywood has been presenting in lieu of imagination and originality for years...
