Gore-filled trailer for Cockneys vs Zombies: watch now

"Get the f**k out of my East End!"

Cockneys vs. Zombies has released a new red-band trailer in which a horde of the undead go toe to toe with a posse of jellied eel quaffing, convoluted rhyme spouting Eastenders.

Written by Severance scribe James Moran, this claret-spattered tear-up between the living and the nearly-dead sees Michelle Ryan, Alan Ford and Richard Briers tooling up to protect their corner of the capital from a plague of zombies.

Ford clearly has designs on pinching every scene he's in, channeling Brick Top's psychotic charm to superb effect. Briers is also a highlight, playing a dopey old codger who doesn't seem even remotely phased by the arrival of the brain-munching beasties.

Take a look at the new trailer, below…

Alright, so it's nothing we haven't seen before in Shaun Of The Dead et al, but there do look to be a few fresh ideas on show here, with Briers' Zimmer frame assisted escape from a shambling aggressor probably the pick of the bunch.

Directed by Matthias Hoene, Cockneys vs. Zombies opens in the UK on 31 August 2012, and will receive its world premiere at FrightFest on 23 August. Fancy going? You can snap up tickets here!

I prefer Shaun of the Dead based solely on the fact that it didn't have cockneys.
