Gurinder Chadha off to Dallas

Yee-haa! The movie adaptation of the classic soap is getting a new director

Now that Monster-In-Law director Robert Luketic has ditched the Ewing family ranch (he decided that he’s more interested in Columbia’s 21, about MIT students who cheat at gambling), 20th Century Fox has been on the hunt for someone to replace him at the helm of their Dallas film.

Now it looks like they’ve found a director with plenty of experience handling large, squabbling families. Gurinder Chadha, who helmed Bend It Like Beckham and Bride & Prejudice, has inherited the current script and is busy meeting potential cast members.

John Travolta, Jennifer Lopez, Luke Wilson and Shirley MacLaine are the current front-runners for the lead roles made famous by the likes of Larry Hagman and Patrick Duffy.
