It’s been a couple of months since we were updated with casting info on Jon Favreau’s eagerly anticipated Iron Man adaptation.
But now the silence has been broken and a third major cast member has been added to star alongside Robert Downey Jr and Terrence Howard. Gwyneth Paltrow will be playing Virginia “Pepper” Potts, the personal assistant to Downey Jr’s Tony Stark, and one of the few people in the world who ends up knowing about his dual identity as the crime-fighting superhero.
"These are popcorn films designed for broad audiences, but there are multi-dimensional characters that have brought us the best luck with actors," Marvel Studios Kevin Feige told Variety.
She’ll report for duty in March, when Iron Man starts shooting in LA, after no doubt boning up on her Iron Man history like a big nerd. And the film itself will be in cinemas next May.
