Hardwicke engages in Dot War

Takes on war-based action-adventure...

Catherine Hardwicke, director of Thirteen and the first Twilight, has been approached to direct Dot War.

It’s being touted as an action-adventure flick, and features a video-game programmer who is enlisted by the government to use virtual technology to take on terrorists.

Which sounds like quite a departure for Hardwicke, who is best known for her indieified roots in intimate, if iron-fisted, drama.

The director is also attached to a modern-day version of Hamlet, which would star Emile Hirsch, and she is also currently casting her Red Riding Hood update, The Girl With The Red Riding Hood.

Pajiba broke the Dot War news, and note that Hardwicke’s involvement in the film is entirely based on how much she likes the script rewrite.

Dot War? Or simply dotty? Can Hardwicke pull off an all-out action flick?
