Hayden Christensen's post-Star Wars career has been patchy at best, but that hasn't stopped him searching for his next hit vehicle - and his latest attempt to break from mediocrity will be the starring role in the adaptation of Jon Case novel The Genesis Code.
Christensen will be playing a former national security expert, investigating the death of his sister and her son. Whist on the trail he discovers a religious group, named The Shadow of the Cross, which he fears may be involved.
His investigation leads him to Italy where an experiment that could harm the Church’s reputation is taking place - and the Church will do anything (gulp) to keep this secret under wraps.
The film will be directed by David R. Ellis, who brought us dramatic powerhouses Snakes on a Plane and Final Destination 2.
Myraid Pictures, who will be co-producing the film, will be taking it to Cannes this week in the hope to secure financing.
As long as Christensen refrains from getting on his knees and screaming "NOOOO" into the open sky, and keeps the tone very much in line with his Shattered Glass performance, then we have hope for the movie.
