Heavy Metal rusts in development

Paramount turns down the ‘toon – but the producers are still pimping it…

Looks like the power of David Fincher doesn’t always make studios’ doors swing open without question… As Heavy Metal has just been rejected by Paramount.

Of course, that might be because it’s a new version of the iconic, very adult animation based on the 1970s magazine of the same name, and even boasting chunks scripted by the likes of 30 Days Of Night’s Steve Niles and some sci-fi heavyweights couldn’t quite sell the suits on the idea.

Still, Fincher, alongside animation expert Tim Miller and Heavy Metal publisher Kevin Eastman, are confident that they can find a new home for the controversial cartoon. Entertainment Weekly has the story.
