The sort of prestige production that fairly screams, “we’re in it for Oscars”, Michael Hoffman’s Leo Tolstoy biopic The Last Station was all set to start shooting with Anthony Hopkins and Meryl Streep playing the famed writer and his missus.

But now Streep and Hopkins are out and Helen Mirren and Christopher Plummer have snatched the lead roles just in time, as Hoffman is about to start shooting this month. Also on board are Paul Giamatti, James McAvoy and McAvoy’s missus, Anne-Marie Duff).
