Henry Cavill talks Man Of Steel

Exclusive: “I loved wearing the suit!”

In issue 204 of Total Film magazine (out now, and available for only £1.99 on your iPad), we chat to Henry Cavill about donning the cape to play the world’s biggest superhero for Zack Snyder’s Man Of Steel.

You can read the full interview in the new issue, but we’ve got some choice quotes to whet your appetite.

On Superman’s iconic red and blue get-up, Cavill grinned as he told us, “I loved wearing the suit! You put it on every morning and you feel fantastic. I mean, you’re wearing a Superman suit, for goodness sake!”

When we asked about the process of finding a way to play the iconic superhero, he responded thoughtfully:

“This is not a movie about Zack Snyder directing something, or Henry Cavill playing a character… it’s a selfless movie about a character who is going through what he is going through. He wants to do the right thing, but he’s fallible, like the rest of us. He messes up, and that makes us love him more.”

Man Of Steel opens in the UK on 14 June 2013.

I hope he knows Superman ruins the career of any actor that plays him. For some reason, that doesn't apply to people who play Batman.

Hadouken76 - Wrong, guys who play Superman are usually unknowns. Reeve's first leading gig was Superman, as was Routh, Welling and Cain. They're not good actors, they only get casted as Superman because of their look. No one wants to hire them as anything else after that. And Batman? Clooney's career was fine thanks to ER, as will Bale's post-Batman, but what happened to Adam West, Keaton and Kilmer? They had illustrious careers post-Batman, huh?

Yeah you have a point there. Kilmer is definitely came out worst, saw him on a recent episode of Numb3rs the show isn't bad but his part was minimal, West was never going to be a big star more TV / B-movies and now Family Guy , Keaton gets by with bit parts like in films like Out of Sight. How funny is that? 2 Batmans in one movie? HA!
