Hoffman to lead Quartet

Actor's directorial debut selling at Cannes

Dustin Hoffman is set to debut as director on Quartet, a comedy to be produced by Fiona Dwyer (An Education) and Headline Pictures.

Penned by The Pianist and Diving Bell scribe Ronald Harwood, Quartet follows a once-famous quartet of opera singers as they prepare for a one-off reunion performance.

Albert Finney, Maggie Smith and Tom Courtenay are in talks to star in the project which will commence shooting in the UK later this year.

Quartet is selling on the Croisette through HanWay Films.
