Hugh Jackman set to appear in X-Men: Days Of Future Past

The gang’s all here…

Following yesterday’s news that Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart will be appearing in X-Men: Days Of Future Past, another X-Men veteran is now being linked to the project, with THR claiming that Hugh Jackman is in talks to join the fun.

It’s not massively surprising news, particularly since Jackman already popped up in First Class, but it’s pleasing nonetheless, as director Bryan Singer continues reassembling his original X-team.

Famke Janssen has also been rumoured to be appearing in the film, in which the action is set to be split between two distinct periods of time, one of which is a dystopian future where Mutants have become outlawed and endangered.

The responsibility falls upon the present-day X-Men (i.e. Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy et al) to alter the course of time and prevent their kind from getting banged up in a series of mass internment camps. No pressure, then…

Co-starring Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult, X-Men: Days Of Future Past will open in the UK on 18 July 2014. And from the sounds of things, it will have claws…

Are you excited by the old faces returning? Tell us, below!

Mcghater I think this is going to be a alternate future and therefore the events of last stand still happen but only happen because McAvoy Prof. X chances the path of the future, and therefore deleting the events we may see in this new film - complicated stuff - it works in the comics but getting it to work in a 2hour film will be a hard task

If they do get it to work right though, i think it could be a brilliant film. I'm loving the fact that they are getting the original actors back in to give it some continuity.

I am worried, with all the returning cast members from the original trilogy it could be a mess. Time travel is a tricky to nail down, Star Trek covered it well with just the one appearence from Nimoy.

I hope he hasn't got a massive part. I dislike the way the film series tends to just revolve around Wolverine and everyone else just gets the bum end, that's why First Class is my favourite because others get the chance to shine. @Mcghater, there's no problem with the film makers pretending The Last Stand didn't happened, the rest of us do it.

@FBJRider, agreed. As much as I like Wolverine as a character, and I liked Jackmans version in the 1st 2 films, I hated the way they revolved the franchise around him. The cameo he had in First Class actually annoyed me more than I thought. An X-Men movie can't possibly exist without Wolverine in it? Really? I was hoping they'd avoid the temptation with this one, but when Singer took it back, that idea went out the window.
