Ian McKellen, too. No shock there, then...

Because the world would end if we got a week without Guillermo del Toro talking about The Hobbit, he’s been offering some casting info – with Hugo Weaving now confirmed as on board.
Chatting with Simon Mayo on Radio 5 Live, the director revealed three chunks of actor info – confirming Ian McKellen and Andy Serkis (neither of them a shock as they’d pretty much been guaranteed to return) and adding that Hugo Weaving is now officially signed up.

So that means the proper Gollum, Gandalf and now Elf leader Elrond are all on board.
But when do we get to find out who’s playing Bilbo? Come on GDT... you know you want to spill it.

Excited to learn Elrond will return? Pleased with del Toro’s choice? Tell us!

While I hope I live to see The Hobbit---I guess the F/X will be used to Button-ize actors who are now older in a prequel than in the LOTR…

Technically you should probably be using a picture of Gandalf the Grey rather than Gandalf the White for this but anyway what about the necromancer whom Gandalf, Elrond, Saruman and I believe Radagast the Brown turf out of Mirkwood, will we see any of this and who will play Beorn, Bard, the dwarves?

Good point KerrAvon, it would be good to see that because the necromancer is Sauron.
There is stuff in the books that is not always specified and leaves it to the imagination, so its interesting to see how they would portray that.
