Before we start into the meat of this news story, we’ll warn anyone who hasn’t seen I Am Legend that you might want to watch the film before proceeding.
Right, onwards… director Francis Lawrence shuttled down to Comic Con this year in support of Kings, a new US TV drama he’s producing. And while he was there, he let slip that plans are underway for a follow-up to I Am Legend, which successfully arrived in cinemas earlier in the year. As you’ll know, Will Smith dies nastily in the first film, so how exactly do you do it all again. Prequel time!
“"In the prequel, it's slightly different because it's earlier,” he told website ShockTillYouDrop. “We were three years later so we did a lot of research into the way nature would have sort of overtaken the city, with the cracks in the streets and the weeds, so if it's just back earlier, it'll be slightly different so the approach will be different. We're not positive of the time of the year, because if you go in winter, you can do some entirely different kinds of things."
