Insidious producer talks about possible sequel

“I wouldn’t say we’re not considering it”

Insidious producer Jason Blum has revealed that a sequel to the ghostly chillfest is a possibility.

When asked if Insidious 2 might be on the cards, the producer revealed that a follow-up depends on whether director James Wan and writer Leigh Whannell feel like coming up with a concept.

“I wouldn't say we're not considering it,” says Blum. “There's no plan, no release date, nothing like that. I think James feels the same as Oren [Peli, producer].

“Oren was very sceptical about doing a sequel to Paranormal Activity until Michael [Perry] pitched an idea and it made sense.

“If Leigh comes up with a story that's inventive and you feel like there's a story to tell - as opposed to ‘let's make another movie and make money’ - and he comes up with something James feels is worth making we would do it. And if Leigh doesn't, we won't.”

Insidious was made on a budget of just £1.5m, but went on to take an impressive $52.7m at the US box office alone.

It’s been celebrated for its effective boo-scares, though the general consensus is that the film’s second half couldn’t deliver on the film’s stellar opening build-up.

It did end on a killer cliffhanger, though, which means some fans could be interested in the story being continued.

Sequel? Or shove off? Think Insidious doesn't need a follow-up? Or do you want to see the story continued? Drop your verdict below...

Let's reboot it first, with a better second half. Then do the trilogy...
