Ioan Gruffudd is Tony Blair

And Thandie Newton’s Condoleezza Rice in W

It seems to be a new rule in films these days – if you want to play Tony Blair. You need to be Welsh. Michael Sheen paved the way (with The Deal and The Queen) and now Ioan Gruffudd is taking on the role for Oliver Stone’s George Bush biopic, W.

Facing an even tougher challenge is Thandie Newton, who will tackle the part of Condoleezza Rice, one of Bush’s most trusted team members.

The pair are joining the likes of Josh Brolin, Elizabeth Banks, James Cromwell and Ellen Burstyn and The Hollywood Reporter is bringing us the news.
