Iron Man 3 has been given an official release date by Walt Disney Pictures, who have announced that the superhero will be jetting back into cinemas with a solo offering on 3 May, 2013.
Wait, Disney? Yup, the Mouse House have just snapped up the distribution rights to Tony Stark’s third cinematic outing. Having forked out $115m, the studio will now distribute Iron Man 3 and The Avengers.
Which is good news for everybody interested in seeing a third Iron Man, including Jon Favreau, who has shown an interest in “capping off” the trilogy - and possibly introducing super-villain Mandarin.
That long-lead release date should also give the production team time to come up with a fitting third adventure for our exoskeleton-donning superhero, after criticism was levelled at the second film for its overstuffed narrative.
Not that Favs will be launching right into Iron Man 3. A release date is a bit different to a green light, and while we know that Marvel do plan on a third Iron Man, he'll have to wait until after The Avengers before he gets rolled out again.
Meawhile, Favs is busy working hard on other comic adap Cowboys & Aliens...
Plot speculations begins here. What do you want to see happen in IM3? Speak out below…

May I suggest an end-boss that takes more than 30 seconds to kill?

I quite liked 2 though it does try to do too much and the whole blood poisoning thing is resolved awfully fast
