Iron Man and Thor go head to head in new Avengers clip: watch now

Smells like team spirit

The Avengers has released another new clip, in which Thor and Iron Man engage in a bit of a set-to in the middle of a darkened forest.

Although we had previously seen Thor and Captain America going at it in the trailer, this is the first look at a scrap between the Thunder God and Tony Stark.

However, instead of tearing each other to pieces, the conflict has an unexpected effect on Stark's abilities… or rather, those of his suit.

You can take a look at the new clip below, introduced by none other than Captain America himself, Chris Evans…

We've seen explosions, Hulk-smashings and Scarlett Johanssen using her hair as a weapon, but that exchange of headbutts between Iron Man and Thor has to be the most badass bit of action yet to emerge from The Avengers!

The film opens in the UK on 26 April 2012. We'll just have to wait and see whether the cracks between our newly teamed heroes can be smoothed over, or whether they turn into full on crevasses...

Are Marvel showing too much with these clips, or are you enjoying the build-up? Tell us, below.

I'm not massively into the comics so hopefully someone can clear this up, but shouldn't Thor, being a God, make Iron Man his b*tch in like half a second? Mjolnir is the most powerful weapon ever made so again, wouldn't one decent swing with that just decapitate a mere mortal, regardless of how much metal they're wearing. Have they 'toned' down Thor's abilities for the big screen?

Maybe it's because Thor's a 'nice' God and knocking off mortal's head with a hammer is not a very nice thing to do......There is actually a pretty cool bit in the recent Thor books by michael straczynski where Thor lays into Iron Man and Iron Man gets a bit of a pasting. He asks how come Thor has never beaten him so easily before and Thor just says "This time I wasn't holding back", which i thought was pretty cool..........I'll stop being such a geek now.

@bogman2099 I'd say he's pretty hardcore once he gets the hammer back in Thor. @anant agreed, it's a slow day in the office for me!

Oh, and on a more serious note, how many clips are they going to release before the movie. I'm all for reading up on upcoming films but am starting to feel this is getting ridiculous. Hollywood is giving away too much nowadays. I remember seeing the teaser for this after Captain America. It didn't give too much away and left us with a lot of questions. Who's going to be the villain? are the skrulls in it? why is Thor wailing on Cap? Will Scarlet Johannson jiggle about a lot? - important questions like these. I think with all the recent clips and trailers too much has been given away (I reckon Thor is fighting Cap and Iron man as this is when he first returns to earth. On one of the trailers he 'lands' on some kind of plane, maybe a Quintjet, and so i reckon Shield thinks he's attacking the Earth).

@SiMan I agree, we've seen the setting of large set pieces, a lot of key dialogue, showing scenes like this is now going too far. My theory was that they were fighting as Thor was trying to show them 'This is my brother, my fight, type thing.' But I like yours better, so I'll claim that as my own original thought.

They need to stop releasing these. And I need to stop watching them. I've seen like 10 minutes of the movie already..
