Is Marc Webb hinting at Venom in Spider-Man 2?

Releases a rather suggestive image

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 already has a couple of villains on board in the form of Electro and Rhino, but a recent image released by director Mark Webb has got fans wondering whether there might yet be another in store.

The image shows what looks like a locker in a morgue, marked with the number 14. Webb accompanied the pic with a brief caption, reading, “Day 3. #happybirthday”. Curious…

Now, being an aficionado of the comics, Webb will know that Peter Parker and Eddie Brock discovered Venom in a similar locker at Oscorp, again marked with the number 14.

On top of that, Venom first made his appearance in April 1988, and factoring the two month lead time between a comics creation and publication, that would make February 2013 his 25th birthday.

Or of course, it could just be a note to Dane DeHaan, whose birthday was on Wednesday! In any case, we’re intrigued. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 opens in the UK on 18 April 2014.

Gods, I hope not... the roster is too full already.... Venom deserves his own spotlight...

there is a part of me that wants this to be a minor link / post credit scene for Amazing spider-man 3 villain, but there's also a part of me that want Goblin to have the final film to himself in order to steel the spot light by killing XXXX

Venom is a s**te character - Raimi was right on that. It ruined his last film. They need to forget about the toy shop for five minutes and go back and bring back the Green Goblin (and fix him i.e. make him an actual goblin) as screwing that up was like making a mess of the Joker in a Batman film. Good to see they have also learned that having too many villains in one film = s**te film...

If done correctly and with passion Venom could be an interesting character, but for No. 2 its too soon but with a few hints in No. 2 and then come into No.3 would be good but Im with Marvelboy! Goblin for No.3 and kill XXXX. Trouble is its looking to follow the Ultimate Spidy rather than Amazing...which worries me!

Venom is a great villain Riami was just too busy trying to create a crappy Godzilla Sandman to give him any justice.
