He’s likely to sign on for The new Karate Kid

Jackie Chan is in final negotiations to fill the role of Mr Myagi in the new version of The Karate Kid.

He’ll be playing a take on the role made famous by Pat Morita steered through the original franchise, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Myagi’s student this time, though, won’t be Ralph Macchio – Jaden Smith is the “kid” already attached to the film.

The casting would seem to suit the film’s switch from its original chosen location of Japan to China, where Myagi will teach his young pupil to overcome bullies.
