Jake Sully for Dracula?

Sam Worthington is first choice

Sam Worthington starred in the most successful film of all time, he's about to Clash with Titans, and now he could be cast as Dracula.

There's no question that Worthington is the man of the moment and, according to Latino Review, he's the first choice to play the fanged-one in Alex Proyas’ Dracula: Year One.

Universal are apparently on the brink of assembling their film slate for 2011, and one of the contenders to be given the green light is Proyas’ film.

Proyas has been talking about directing Dracula: Year One since 2008, and he's described the 15th Century origin story as being a mix of Bram Stoker legend and the history of Dracula's alter-ego Prince Vlad the Impaler.

The script has been written by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless, who recently wrote the Flash Gordon reboot for Sony. The addition of Worthington as Vlad could be the extra incentive Universal needs to finally say yes.

Universal had hoped to launch a new line of monster movies, but then The Wolfman happened.

Would you pay to see Worthington sink his teeth into Dracula...?

Poor choice. Sam isn't really that good of an actor to pull off Vlad.

@BenCh it's a truly frightening thought. He would bring added bats**t crazy to the role.

He'd look pretty good and the grin + fangs sounds brilliant! BUT, the accent, I reckon would be a problem. His American one is good, but eastern european is hard to do without sounding cheesy!

I have a feeling Sam Worthington is this generation's Keanu Reeves: can't act, but inexplicably gets major roles. What's going on? Vlad's not supposed to be a blonde blue-eyed Aussie anyway - you need someone tall, dark and menacing yet charismatic! I've got someone in mind...

It's like one thinks in order to look cool on these sites, they have to oppose a company's decision, then just say a list of well known actor's names... I'm sick of people ALWAYS having an opposing view, why not just go "Oh yeh, that might work"

Well Bentgaga ya live up to ya name...... its pretty much not only the freedom of speech and opinion but also the reason there are these movie chat forums!!! so ppl may, can and will discuss the potential alternatives to certain iconic roles such as.... Dracula, infact im not entirely sure you realise it but you contradicted your self kinda indirectly by suggesting mu suggestions for Dracula were based merely on look alone,..really? are you a movie buff or someone with a flawed perspective, lets recap then shall we, um, ed norton, Javier Bardem, Daniel day Lewis.......well thats 3 of them that basically blow Worthington outta the water on performance alone, so maybe us fan boys are trying to save a well troden franchise from annhilation instead of being "Oh Ok Then" about mr Average "SAM WORTHINGTON".......Focker Out!

Sam Worthington might work, from what I've seen he can play various roles and I think the comparisons with IKea nu Reeves are a little unfair. However, for something different what about Anton Yelchin - let a younger actor play dracula (he can be any age as vampires don't age) or Clive Owen - think he might struggle with the accent though.
