James Franco cast in 127 Hours

Production date set for Boyle’s latest...

James Franco has taken the lead role in Danny Boyle’s 127 Hours.

The real-life story of a mountaineering trip gone wrong, Franco will play Aron Ralston, the climber who was stranded in Blue John Canyon in May 2003.

When a boulder crushed his forearm, pinning him to the canyon wall for almost five days, Ralston was forced to amputate his own arm.

Production is slated to kick off in March in Utah, while Boyle and Slumdog Millionaire screenwriter Simon Beaufoy have said that the script is completely dialogue-free for the first hour.

Just don’t expect any Castaway-style volleyball tricks; Boyle has crushed that notion from the get-go.

Think Franco’s a good choice? Big Boyle fan (Danny, not Sue)? Tell us below...

Intrigued to say the least. Big fan of Danny Boyle and the way each of his films are different, so I can't wait to see what he does to the story after the dissapointment of Slumdog.
