James Mangold will direct The Gunslinger

He's heading back to the Wild West

3.10 To Yuma director James Mangold is set to direct revenge thriller, The Gunslinger.

The film is based on a script by John Hlavin, which found itself on the Black List of Hollywood's best unproduced screenplays.

The Gunslinger is described as a contemporary Western, in which a Texas ranger takes revenge on the men who killed his brother.

Mangold's last movie was glossy action caper Knight and Day, which did solid, if unspectacular, business at the box office. He made a name for himself with starry urban Western Copland, which starred an overweight Sly Stallone.

With a reputation for grabbing top-notch casts, expect the director to attract some A-list talent to The Gunslinger.

He directed Reese Witherspoon to her Oscar in 2005's Walk the Line.

I'd like to see Eric Bana as The Gunslinger, Russell Crowe would be good but it seems to obvious for him. Who ever it is I hope they go for a mature actor rather then one of these young (gun) still in nappies kids.
