Robert Redford's new drama

James McAvoy and Robin Wright Penn are starring in Robert Redford's The Conspirator.

The period drama takes its inspiration from true events following the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln.

Penn's playing Mary Surratt, who was the only woman among the group who plotted to off the theatre-going US leader, and was charged with conspiring the kill the president.

McAvoy is Frederick Aiken, a young war hero assigned to defend her in court, but who comes to believe she's innocent.

Redford plans to start shooting in October, and that sound you hear is Liam Neeson banging on Steven Spielberg's door, demanding to know when his "damned Lincoln project" is going to get made.
