James McTeigue off to Bangkok

A new mystery

If your book starts to shift a few copies, chances are someone will come along with a hefty Hollywood wallet to buy up the rights.

John Burdett knows what that feels like as Millennium Films has just paid to option Bangkok 8, the first of a three-book mystery series set in Thailand.

V For Vendetta director James McTeigue will helm the tale of a Royal Thai Police Force who has to track down the murderers of his partner and a US Marine. The trails ends up leading him through the city’s infamous cocktail of drugs, sex and corrupt cops.

Millennium Films is hoping for a franchise, aiming to adapt the other books and shoot all the thrillers in Thailand.
