Jamie Foxx becomes Electro in first teaser for The Amazing Spider-Man 2: watch now

“You wanna know how powerful I am?”

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 has released a first teaser ahead of its appearance at Comic-Con this weekend, with a glimpse at Jamie Foxx’s transformation into the villainous Electro.

The new snippet shows the man formerly known as Max Dillon strapped up to the machine that bestows his electrical super-powers upon him.

“I can feel it in the walls,” he says. “I feel it in my veins… you wanna know how powerful I am? Well I wanna know too…” Stirring stuff, we think you’ll agree…

Take a look at the new teaser, below…

What immediately strikes us about this is the unnerving delivery Foxx has come up with. While his character design might have a whiff of Mr. Freeze about it, he seems to have balanced that out with a healthy amount of vocal menace…

Directed by Marc Webb and co-starring Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone and Paul Giamatti, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will open in the UK on 18 April 2014.

What do you think of the new clip? Tell us, below!

Woah. He's gone for the deep and menacing voice. Brave choice for a villain these days, and the overwhelming use of CGI is again a brave departure for a superhero movie. Maybe I'm just getting old, but exactly what separates this from every other comic book movie ever made? The first (4th) Spiderman movie was a paint-by-numbers narrative, what suggests this won't be too?

Is it just me, or does the header pic of Electro have a shade of ol' Palpatine in it? Wonder if they'll nick a shot of force lightning too.... Anyway, I think this Electro might be pretty cool.

@FBDHolloway: I just wanted to point out: that was excellent use of sarcasm.

Looks like it could be good. However, they NEED to start getting the villains right for Spider-man. The Batman stuff was excellent as they nailed all the villains (Scarecrow, Joker, Bane - all excellent) but there has only been one great spider-man movie and that was Spider-man 2. Why? Because the villain was great with Molina's take on Doc Ock. And they need to redo the Green Goblin - f*****g that up the first time was criminal as its like screwing up the Joker.

I wonder if Electro still wants to Channing all over the Tatum?
