Jamie Foxx was recently confirmed as villain Electro in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, after being linked to the role for some time.
He has wasted no time talking about the comic-book bad guy, telling ET Online that he’s “a great character”.
"I met with the director, Mark Webb, I met with Andrew Garfield, and we talked.
“I think Electro will be an exciting character to play because he's a… genius electrician-type person, and he gets the short end of the stick from the whole world, and the next thing you know he turns it on."
It seems as if Foxx will join a long-line of Spider-villains who are decent men at heart, who go down a bad path after some unfortunate slip-ups/personal problems.
Foxx joins newcomers Dane DeHaan and Shailene Woodley, alongside Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone, in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, which is set to open in the UK on 18 April 2014.

I enjoyed the first one and I think this is genius casting for the sequel in both Foxx and DeHaan.

It's bit weird that they went for a black guy to play a white character but still I think he should be good at the role. Looks like we've got a decent cast on our hands, I just hope it plays out better than the first one.

Skin colour no longer seems to matter with Marvel. The Mandarin was originally Chinese now being played by Ben Kingsley, The Kingpin was played by Michael Clarke Duncan in Daredevil and Nick Fury was originally white. No reason why Electro shouldn't be black as long as the actor's good is the way they look at it I suppose. What I'm most annoyed about is how many villains Spidey seems to have that are just good souls given a raw deal who end up with superpowers. I mean, really??? Do they all have to end with a "I didn't mean it, I'm not a bad guy really" scene?

I wasn't a complete fan of the first, but it was enjoyable. Let's hope that since the got over another origin story hump we can get to a more exciting film. popculturegalaxy(dot)com

Skin colour isn't an issue for me when it comes to actors portraying characters, all I care about is acting ability.
