Jason Segel has spoken exclusively to Total Film about bringing the Muppets back to the big screen.
We recently sat down for a chat with the man in charge of relaunching the movie career of Jim Henson’s finest.
Segel told us what the project means to him: “It was one of the most exciting days in my life when I sold that pitch… Followed by abject terror knowing that there are people out there who feel the same way about the Muppets as I do, that have such a reverence for them.”
He knows what his ultimate aim for the movie is though: “The big goal for me was just to do credit and justice to the legacy that Jim Henson and the rest of that family created.”
So what can we expect from Segel’s take then? “It harks back to the late ‘70s, early ‘80s. That’s the Muppets we grew up with and the ones that I loved.
“So I think to some extent the surprise will be how faithful it is to the tone of that original.”
