Jason Statham in talks for Fast & Furious

Two sequels filming back-to-back

Is this news imitating art? Rumours are coming Fast & Furious about the driving series of the same name, including word that two new movies will shoot next year and that Jason Statham will be in one of them!

Justin Lin is back to direct his fourth (and fifth?) movie in the franchise, having dropped out of both Highlander and Terminator films.

As much as he likes F&F, we can't help thinking they drove a particularly large truck full of money to Lin's house to get him to sign on again. Especially as word is that Fast Six and Fast Seven could shoot back-to-back. Now that's dedication.

Maybe TF is being too cynical here. Perhaps Lin really wants to work with Jason Statham, who has apparently been approached to appear in at least one of those Fast movies.

“[Universal] is entering into preliminary conversations with Jason Statham to explore the possibility of the action star joining one or both films,” reported Twitch Film.

On our calculator, The Fast & The Furious + Jason Statham = awesome. How many films this deep into a series can you say that about?

Is Lin right to commit his future to Fast & Furious? Or would you have liked to see him take on The Terminator or Highlander? What can The Stath bring to series? And did we really just describe F&F as art? Your thoughts below!

This is one of the few franchises that actually improves upon some first installments. (The 2nd and 3rd were fun, but pretty awful.) While I wasn't stoked that Dwayne Johnson had a substantial role in the 5th one, and will carry on into the 6th, I have to admit that his mash up with Diesel was entertaining. Mostly, I'm just excited about the return of Michelle Rodriguez. I never really though that Lettie was dead. I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop. And they should have killed off Jordana Brewster's character instead anyway, because while she is pretty, she's a horrible actresses and Paul Walker just has to run around trying to protect her all of the time. Please. At least Lettie can take of herself.

He's been very Loyal. He's the David Moyes of Hollywood! They showed faith in him by giving him Tokyo Drift. They showed even more when they let him kick-start the whole Thing with Fast & Furious, even though Tokyo Drift dropped a fair bit of money. (They saw it more to do with the changes of cast etc). So he repaid that by agreeing to make Fast 6 months ago. Th problem with Terminator an all of those other films that have been thrown at him as he would have had to break his agreement for the Fast & Furious films, because they all want him now, not 4 - 6 months from now. Good on him for sticking to his word and roll on Fast 6. Get Jackie Chan in their whilst we're getting the cast as big as possible!

Cast Chuck Norris. He would be the Fastest & Furious-est...

Ok, people, this is Fast and Furious, NOT the crappy Expendables 2.
