Tropic Thunder’s Jay Baruchel is bringing a passion project to the big screen in the shape of Johnny Klutz.
The character – which he’s been working on for a while – is a loveable loser with zero ability to feel pain (think Robert Carlyle in The World Is Not Enough but more accident prone and less bent on terrorism).
He’d been trying to find an idea that would work as a story, and now Rob McKittrick – who wrote an d directed Waiting… has cracked it, and signed on to write the film for Universal.
Surprisingly, it’s not Judd Apatow behind this one. Despite Baruchel’s long association with the power producer, the company helping to get Klutz made is Ben Stiller’s Red Hour films.
Looks like he really impressed the boss on Tropic Thunder…
