Jessica Chastain has signed on to star in DreamWorks Pictures’ The Help.
Based on the novel by Kathryn Stockett, filming will start in July in Mississippi, and will also star Viola David, Emma Stone and Bryce Dallas Howard.
The Help has been adapted for the screen by Tate Taylor (who will also direct), and is set in the early 1960s, where black maids work for white households.
Chastain will play Celia Foote, a timid Southern lady who is constantly attempting to fit in with the high society women who nevertheless reject her.
Chastain will also appear in Terrence Malick’s much-anticipated Tree Of Life, as well as John Madden’s Debt and The Fields.
