OTT sci-fi/fantasy ‘toon remake Heavy Metal hasn’t had the easiest ride back to cinemas – but now it looks like James Cameron is involved.
The lads over at Film School Rejects talked to producer Kevin Eastman, who revealed an interesting snippet about the talent behind the film.
“I’ve got breaking news that David Fincher and James Cameron are going to be Co-Executive Producers on the film,” says Eastman.
“Fincher will direct one. Cameron will direct one. Zack Snyder is going to direct one and Gore Verbinski is going to. Mark Osborne and Jack Black from Tenacious D are going to do a comedy segment for the film.
“Three other directors have agreed but we haven’t signed them, but they’re equally as jaw-dropping. So we’re on cloud nine to be working with such an amazing amount of talent.”
What a line-up! Some of the best directors working in the field, all on one project?
We’re hopeful this thing might actually see the light of day now, even given its troubled production history. It’s already been through the wringer at Paramount, even with Fincher aboard, but with Fincher, Cameron, Verbinski and co signed on, surely one studio will pick up the rights…
