Jim Carrey talks Bruce Almighty and Dumber... sequels

He could be revisiting his most popular characters

While on the press tour for his latest movie, Mr. Popper's Penguins, Jim Carrey hinted to ComingSoon that he may be revisiting some characters from his hit movies.

The actor spoke of his sequel plans when he was asked what he'd be doing after Mr. Popper's Penguins.

He said: "We're talking about maybe returning to some old characters that everyone has been asking about… There's Bruce Almighty and we're talking about maybe another Dumb And Dumber."

It's worth remembering that both those movies have already had godawful, Carrey-less sequels: Evan Almighty and Dumb And Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd.

Directory Bobby Farrelly has previously spoken about the possibility of a Dumber… sequel:

"If we could get those two guys back together, Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels, that might be a worthwhile sequel – and that ball is in motion. We’re starting to think about what those two dimwits would be doing twenty years later in life, and hopefully we’ll be able to come up with something worthy of a sequel."

The Farrelly brothers are currently busy at work on their Three Stooges movie, but as Carrey's not locked into any future projects right now, one of these sequels could get moving quickly.

Keen to see Carrey tackle one of these sequels? Or would you rather he revisit another of his characters? You know where to comment…

Alllllllllrighty then! Might get actually get a good carrey film. Still thinking a sequel to the mask would be awesome. Even that had a Carrey-less sequel (but we'll just forget about that for now..)

I would have loved to have seen sequels to Mask and Dumb & Dumber ten years ago, now Carrey's too old and washed up.

this coming from a guy who has been quoted saying that reprising roles does't entice him. he must be getting offered a rather large sum of money to make some pointless sequels.

I'd be excited about a D&D squel, but no so much Bruce Almighty. Carrey's at his best when he plays crazy charecters (D&D, Ace Ventura, the Mask), not so keen on him playing an everyday man in a funny situtation (Yes Man, Bruce Almighty). Ace Ventura 3 would be sweeet. He should make more movies! There's noone else like him out there! shame he didnt take the 3 stooges part.
