It’s been a while since we’ve heard anything of the adaptation of CP Taylor’s Nazi-era play Good. We knew that Viggo Mortensen was aboard, playing a German professor who is seduced by the truly dark side of the Nazi party in 1930s Frankfurt.
He slowly falls deeper and deeper into the party, rationalising each betrayal as it happens – his family, a Jewish friend and, finally, the morality he used to lecture about and hold so dear. When he finds himself standing in an SS uniform at death camp Auschwitz, he realises he’s become a symbol for man’s slide into evil. Suffice to say, this won’t have a sunshine and lollipops finale.
Jason Isaacs and Mark Strong were also already aboard and now they’ve been joined by Jodie Whittaker, who’s been drawing rave reviews for her work in Venus with Peter O’Toole.
