Joel Kinnaman stars in first RoboCop clip: watch now

Training sequence initiated

The first clip for José Padilha’s RoboCop has arrived online, in which Joel Kinnaman’s newly-suited Alex Murphy is put through his paces by a brutal training sequence.

As Gary Oldman’s creator warns him, being shot by one of the adversaries he’s facing will result in more pain than he’s ever felt in his life. No pressure then…

Fortunately for Murphy, his reflexes are more than up to the task, and it isn’t long before he’s dispatching enemies left, right and centre.

The choice of music is a tad offputting (you might remember it from a classic Nike ad from the 2010 World Cup), but the action looks meaty enough to whet our appetites for the finished film…

Directed by Padilha and co-starring Jackie Earle Haley, Michael Keaton and Abbie Cornish, RoboCop will open in the UK on 7 February 2014.
