Another day, another Stephen King update, with new details emerging concerning the adaptation of the prolific author’s apocalyptic novel, Cell.
John Cusack has signed on to star in the movie as comic-book writer Clayton Riddell, a man who finds himself at the heart of a disastrous event known as “The Pulse”.
“The Pulse” sends everybody who is using their mobile phone at that moment into a murderous rage, and it isn’t long before all hell has broken loose across America. Fortunately for Clay, however, he doesn’t own a mobile phone…
This will be Cusack’s third appearance in a King adaptation, having already cropped up in 1408 and Stand By Me. No further casting has been announced at this juncture.
King has co-written the screenplay with Last House On The Left writer Adam Alleca, although no director is attached at this stage. Perhaps it's time King got on the phone to Frank Darabont? Using a landline, naturally…

Who did Cusack play in Stand by me? I don't remember him being in it? And wasn't there a film a few years ago called 'Pulse' that had a pretty much same story?
