John Woo finds a Caliber

He’s attached to a tale of King Arthur as a gunslinger…

John Woo has been busy for the last couple of years getting his Chinese epic Red Cliff made, and with the first part wowing the box office over there and the second part cooking away in editing, he’s finally been able to look at other projects.

He’s signed on to direct an adaptation of Radical Comics’ tome Caliber, which recasts the story of King Arthur and his knights in 19th-century America, where they’re gunslingers. It definitely sounds like something Woo could bring to stylish life, though we’ll likely have to wait a while for it – not only is it very early days for the project, but it’ll have to fight for space among the other announced films bearing the director’s stamp.

Variety is packing heat.
