Johnny Depp stars in new trailer for Transcendence: watch now

"I'm going to need to expand…"

A new trailer has arrived online for Transcendence, in which Johnny Depp's critically wounded scientist successfully uploads his consciousness to a computer.

The new trailer gives us a little more info on RIFT, the militant anti-tech activists who unwittingly push Depp's research forward by fatally shooting him in protest against his advances in the field of A.I.

There's also a more detailed look at how Depp's character evolves once he has been "uploaded", with his influence and power growing ever more terrible by the day…

Take a look at the new trailer, below…

Pleasingly, the new trailer focuses less on the "oh my god there's a man in the computer" angle, and more on the look and tone of the film Wally Pfister has created. Mighty atmospheric it is too…

Directed by Pfister and co-starring Rebecca Hall, Paul Bettany and Morgan Freeman, Transcendence will open in the UK on 25 April 2014.

Wouldn't be a Hollywood movie without big guns and explosions. So many clichés and tired, used ideas in one short trailer. Looks disappointing already.

@michalrosa Hmmm, didn't they make it clear that there is action in the movie before? It's a dramatic sci-fi action thriller movie and that what we exactly saw in the trailer. It looks great and promising and I'm sorry if you expected something different.

I am very intrigued but the CGI elements worry me.
